Early Life of George Orwell
- Born as Erik Arthur Blair, was born on 25 June 1903 in Motihari, Bengal, a British colony in what is now India.
- George Orwell was the son of a British civil servant.
- He was born in India where his father was stationed.
- His mother brought him and his oldest sister (Marjorie) to England a year after he was born.
- They settled in Henley-on-Thames, England.
- His father stayed in India and rarely visited them.
- George didn't really know his father until he retired from the service.
- George was sick a lot as a child, often battling bronchitis and the flu.
- He loved writing at an early age, composed his first poem at age four.
